Version 1.2.0.149 – Windows 8

June 1st, 2013 Posted in Uncategorized

New in this version:

  • Works on Windows 8(!).

Known issues:

  • Hebrew UI doesn’t work in this version. Hopefully will be fixed soon, otherwise Hebrew support might be removed. If you need the Hebrew version, you can still work with the previous version of 42Tags that can be downloaded here: http://www.42tags.com/Download/42TagsSetup.1.2.48.exe

What’s going on?

It’s been a couple of years(!) since 42Tags’ last update. In the mean time me and Shimon split up each to do his own things. I’ve moved to Mac. Windows 8 came out – and kind of forced me to either release this version or shut 42Tags down. I decided to give it a try, and surprisingly, it was easier than expected. Just had to beg Atalasoft – the providers of the awesome TWAIN component used by 42Tags – to dig in their archives and allow me to use a license of a version that’s no longer supported for a very long time. THANK YOU Atalasoft – Very much appreciated.

The previous version of 42Tags was developed and released by Visual Studio 2005. This one was released by Visual Studio 2012. This might be the cause of some bugs that I haven’t discovered yet. We’ll see how this version rollover turns out.

Let me know of any feedback you have.

Cheers,

Eitan.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
For the last 4 years, I’ve been using 42tags on almost daily basis, so that my archive now contains 10 gb af scans/imports.
January 2013 I got a new pc and was VERY disappointed to see, that 42tags didn’t work with Windows 8.
I used the new pc for about 1 month, 1 week at a time changing between a Windows 7 and a Windows 8 clean install, before I finally decided, that Windows 8 had so many benefits over Windows 7, that I had to acccept Windows 8 – including the very painful loss of 42Tags.
I seriously considered to make af hierachy of folders and manually move and rename every single file (>3.000 files) within my 42tags database, since I really needed the files and being able to find them easily.
Just by coindidence I found out, that 42Tags is now updated to Windows 8.
    So:
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
